Valeria Bini
My name is Valeria Bini, I am italian and I love international environments, meeting and working wih people coming from different countries, visiting new cities & countries and doing sport .
I have a degree in Business Administration which I obtained from Bocconi University in Milano many years ago and my career was mainly characterized by international team management , finance change in management. I worked as a Business Controller in Galbani (Italian food Company) for 5 years, then a couple of years by Romeo Gestioni (Italian Real Estate company) in charge of the Administration and Reporting department and finally I started my 14 years by AXA IM Real Asset (9 years in Milan and 5years in Paris) where I was appointed Global Head of Funds Controlling & Reporting.
Since the beginning I had the chance to contribute to the set up of new departments , processes, tools and to work with people of different origins, backgrounds and experience so that together with my technical skill I have developped my adaptability and open mindness.
But the big change for me arrived in 2014 when I was 40 and I decided to accept a job opportunity in Paris; I left Milan alone and for the first time in my life I was able to understand the power and the importance of the network and I took some time to step back to think about my future.
PWN Paris played a key role in my last 2 years and when I attended the first event in 2018 (June Congress) I didn’t expect that this organization would become so important for me. I was immediately attracted by the variety of the programs and the kindness of people and I therefore decided to become a member and to benefit the most that I could from the PWN offer in terms of worskshops, dedicated clubs and visibility. I applied to be part of the The Board Network , I offered to be a Career and Leadership Mentor , I asked to be a Digital Reverse Mentee , I attended most of the Women in Transition (now « Drivee Your Career ») initiatives. Thanks to PWN I had the chance to meet a lot of very interesting people, including Kerstin Leibold (now co-leader of International Hub) and Marie Laetitia Gourdin (now Co-President of PWN Paris) with whom I shared the interest and the passion for international topics and with whom I decided to start my adventure as a volunteer at PWN Paris at the beginning of 2019. This has led to the creation of a new program and a new team : the International HUB. Being a volunteer is an incredible adventure of sharing and learning.
In the meantime I decided also to leave my company and to benefit from my time to invest in myself attend an Executive MBA by ESCP Europe in the itinerant track format to strengthen even more my international background and my network.
I’ve just come back to Milan to start a new professional and personal adventure : I will keep you updated - the social media help maintain and develop the relationships even at distance.
My advice to women ?
Follow your dream, be courageous , take some risks and be proud of being a woman .
